A&F Abogados present at # IBA2016
A&F Abogados was present with two of its partners, Lisandro Allende and Mariana Miglino, at the annual conference of the International Bar Association (IBA) held in Washington on 18 al 23 last september.
The edition 2016 of the IBA was inaugurated with the words of Mrs.. Christine Lagarde, lawyer and economist, Principal Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who spoke - among other things- on corruption and how it threatens economic stability, generating poverty and social inequity. The spokeswoman said that the objective of those who work in the financial sector should focus on serving society.
The IBA conference featured around 200 panels, focused on multiple themes in various sectors and practice areas. In addition, topics specific to the profession were discussed, such as current challenges in the management of legal studies, international relations, the future of the profession and the role of human rights.
Among the most prominent speakers, Ben Bernanke was present, former chairman of the United States Federal Reserve, Christopher Dodd, former Connecticut Senator, Rt Hon Arlene Foster, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Jeh Johnson, United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Justice Anthony M Kennedy, Supreme Court of Justice of the United States, John Lewis, Congressman representing the 5th District of Georgia, Loretta E Lynch, United States Attorney General, Robert S Mueller, III Director of the FBI, General Colin L Powell, USA (right),former Secretary of State of the United States, Rt Hon Jack Straw British, former British Foreign Secretary and Mary Jo White, President of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
In march 2017 there will be an IBA conference in Buenos Aires, fundamentally focused on M issues&A and aspects of regional practice.

A&F Abogados represented by its partners Lisandro Allende and Mariana Miglino, attended International Bar Association’s 2016 Annual Conference celebrated in Washington DC(Sep. 18-23).
Christine Lagarde, Lawyer and Economist, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, delivered the Opening Ceremony keynote speech on September 18th and addressed – among other interesting topics- about how corruption threatens economic stability producing poverty and social inequality. Madame Lagarde claimed that the financial sector should serve society.
The 2016 IBA Annual Conference in Washington, DC featured around 200 conference sessions, covering most sectors and practice areas. Furthermore, there were sessions on a wide range of topics, such as the challenges of law firm management and international relationships, ethics, the future of the legal profession, and the rule of law and human rights.

Next March 2017, a new IBA Conference will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina focused on M&A matters and related aspects concerning legal practice in Latin America.
